Where is the most romantic hideaway to be on Valentine’s Day for gay and lesbian couples?
New Caledonia - Right on our Doorstep.
Rainbow Tourism's Concierge recommends the romantic resort of L'Escapade - a 40 minute ferry escape from Noumea Harbor to the marine reserve Ilot de Maitre. You can be in New Caledonia by lunch if you book the first flight out from Sydney (2.5 hours) or Brisbane (2 hours) and arrange transport from the airport directly to the harbor!
Breakaway Package
13 to16 February 2010 (Valentine's Day weekend)
3 nights at the L'Escapade
Island Bungalow AUD 1099 per couple
Over Water Bungalow Suite AUD 1999 per couple
Includes ferry transport to and from the resort, use of water sports equipment, snorkeling and fishing in the lagoon, buffet breakfasts. Does not include airfare and airport transfers which can be arranged.
If you want to book the chapel for a ceremony or the restaurant for a reception, no worries. They are all set up for honeymooners and celebrants. Ask for a quote.

After lunch on the waterfront, you catch the private ferry directly to the resort. Otherwise, you can eat at the snack bar on the island which is operational until the restaurant opens its doors at 6pm.
The gay staff and welcoming management told me they are becoming known as a venue for gay and lesbian romantics - for those who want a cerremony and a certificate in a quaint seaside chapel and those who just want a Pacific Style hideaway for a special ocassion.
For sure, L'Escapade Resort is a place to experience and relcaim one's joie de vivre! The wine cellar is superb, the cuisine magical, and slow-paced romantic dinners are above average when the sun sets on your paradise hut.
Very French. Very gay.
